lyrics

It’s hard when you realize
You’re finishing what you started
Somewhere else

And it’s hard when you remember
The first time with her
And now she’s gone

But what you do goes on and on

And every time it only reminds
You of where you started from
And where you’ve been
And how you’re still going on

Every time it only reminds
You of where you’ve started from
And where you’ve been
And how she’s gone

It’s hard when the blinker is turned on
To take you where
You used to live with her

And it’s hard but now that is all gone
And you’re left on the other side
Of the road

Wondering where it was you done gone wrong

And every time it only reminds
You of where you’ve started from
And where you’ve been
And how you are still going on

Every time it only reminds
You of where you started from
And where you’ve been
Only how she’s gone

And it’s hard
And it’s hard
And it’s hard but you pull
Back onto the road

And you keep on driving
where you started from
And it’s on …
… but you keep on riding home
And it’s on …
… back to where you done started from
And it’s on …
… (nonsense)
And it’s on …
… got the blinker turned way down on
And it’s on …
… ring-a-ding on the telephone
And it’s on …
… got the call but then you don’t know
And it’s on …
… wait a minute boys (nonsense)
And it’s on …
… (more nonsense)

about the song

I wrote this during the Sring of 2005. As usual, I was trying to write another song altogether (that I am still unable to finish) and, in a moment of desperation, I attempted to copy a bit of chord from the illustrious Dave Matthews and this is what I ended up with.

I re-recorded it today with a new Tube Amp I purchased to see if I could get a little clearer and louder sound with less hiss; I believe I have suceeded in that area, at least.
